I Would Describe Myself As
After many years away from the game, I took it up again about 4 yrs ago, and happened to see a number of LPGA tournaments on TV, which inspired me to really get serious about playing better. Since then, I've been to seven tournaments (just got back from the 2016 Kingsmill), and planning on the Marathon Classic. I've also gotten an LPGA Teaching Pro, who's helped a LOT. Still not where I would like to be, but definitely heading there! And having a ball doing so!
I'm intelligent but not snobby, attractive but don't think about it, fun-loving but not slapstick or a practical joker, focused but flexible, hard-working but love to relax. I enjoy going out, but also enjoy just hanging out at home. I like people, but crowds are a pain. I'm 5'8, 170#, grey hair and well-trimmed beard, nice but not fussy dresser, comfortable from jeans to a tux to ethnic. I do smoke, and drink socially, and occasionally beer or wine with meals. I enjoy tag sales/antique shops/flea markets/ebay, local history and architecture, old houses (mine is 105 yo), Scotland, and genealogy. (Yes, my degree is in history and social sciences.) For sports, I enjoy golf, bowling, horseshoes, pool, softball, target shooting, and tennis. Hiking, bicycling, and canoeing are fun, but I got pretty well camped- and fished-out as a kid (and recent experience didn't hook me again!). I do enjoy being indoors as well as outdoors. Board games- Scrabble, UpWords, Monopoly, Boggle (even tho there's no board!), Trivial Pursuit. More than a bit rusty, but could probably still hold my own at canasta. Grew up with many different types of music, and have since expanded my horizons- but not far enuf to include rap or heavy metal, and I prefer country and opera in small doses. Ragtime, marches, barbershop, classic rock, baroque, folk, pipe organ, brass, old Broadway, spirituals, some jazz- and even bagpipes. Music is my second profession, tho I'm between positions at the moment- I am a choir director, but not in-your-face about church. It's just part of who and what I am. Oh yes- I am NOT looking for a distance relationship- been there, done that, no further interest. So if you live more than a 1/2 hour or 25 miles (as the crow flies) from the center of Akron, you're probably too far away.
I will be upfront, and admit that I am not either a dog person or a motorcycle person. Motorcycles do not interest me (altho bikes are ok), and have had enuf run-ins with dogs to last a lifetime. I can tolerate a well-behaved dog on occasion, but am really a cat person (and they know it!), altho I do not have one at present.
When I was in the service many eons ago, I was a small-arms instructor, and shot competitively both in school and service. Altho I haven't competed for a long time, I still believe in the Second Amendment, tho I'm not strident about it.
Nor do I believe in astrology. 'Nuff said about that.
I've found that I don't do well with right-wing or fundamentalist attitudes, and probably very left-wing ones either- too confining for my head. No one has a lock on right or wrong...
I'm looking for an attractive slim, trim or petite companion (less than 5'8, 45-65, but negotiable) who can think and carry on an intelligent conversation without an agenda, and enjoys cultural activities. She can't be afraid of four-letter words, but can't be a garbage-mouth, either. Common sense is a must, along with a sense of humor, adventure, honesty, and the Golden Rule.Just so you know- I am still working (specialty retail), which means working all but two Saturdays each year.
