I Would Describe Myself As
When I took up golf at 48, I told my late husband that if something were to happen to him before me, the place that I would go to meet someone would be at the golf course. Being self-employed I found a free workday much more often than him, and would head out to the course whenever I had the chance. Invariably I would get paired into a group with two or three guys. Every time they would just take me under their wing, give me golf tips, treat me great, and just be generally sweet guys, no matter their age.
So some 17 years later, and recently retired, I’ve become a fairly decent golfer and don’t want to give up the sport so I’m looking for a guy that shares that interest with me because I’m now a widow. I have other interests besides golf like DIY projects, travel, watching many other sports, music and concerts, good conversation ranging from silly to heavier, and of course, hanging with wonderful friends and family.
You learn a lot about a person through a typical four hour round of golf. Do they have a temper, do they drink in excess, do they have a sense of humor, are they intelligent, are they comfortable to be around, what kind of music do they like? (Because I almost always have music playing in my cart when I golf). Other topics come up all the time golfing when people talk about their families, kids, or other interests, like travel, restaurant recommendations, home projects, jobs, teams they follow, political leanings, it goes on and on and on. That’s why if I can’t organically meet somebody playing golf, which can be kind of difficult since I belong to a country club and it’s always the same mostly married members, I would at least like to have a first date on the golf course because it’s such an unintimidating way to get to know someone and if it’s not a good fit, you shake hands and that’s that, just like a normal round of strangers getting thrown together for that tee time. If there’s some connection, some chemistry, it’s pretty easy to just continue it on and grab a drink or meal afterwards. Maybe play again together, or choose another common interest to go do.
So that’s my sales pitch to try to find a nice guy golfer on this site.
