I don't play golf yet, looking to learn

I thought I would consider learning how to play golf from someone who likes to do it as a way of social interaction as opposed to a job. I think I am a teachable student. However I think it would be much more enjoyable if the lessons included lots of mistakes and laughter. I believe Laughing at one's self is a sign of self confidence. So if you can put up with some giggles and some serious trying let me hear from you.
