I know, I know that at our age this probably is not your first rodeo reading profiles on a dating site even if it’s only been for a day or two. So, let me give you a refreshing perspective – the truth. If you care to read on, I will tell you a few truths about myself, at least as I think they are, as my father tried to beat into me from a young age that a man’s word is his bond.
I am kind of retired and kind of not as I sold the construction business I stared in 1977 in 2010. However, in July of 2012 I some how ended up the owner of a small bar and grill that has now grown into the number one such business in the area. If we should ever meet I shall regale you with all the comedy of errors and life happenstance that caused that to happen. I am very fortunate though to have some incredible people working for me that allow me to spend my winters in Florida. I go down there about the middle of October and return to central Illinois about the first of May. In Florida I live in the center of the state on a golf course about 80 miles south of Orlando and in the summer on a small lake in the central part of Illinois.
I know that strong communication is ground floor for any successful relationship so if you think we may be on the same wavelength so far please read on. I have tried various hobbies and recreational pursuits in my life including riding Harleys, boats both ski and cabin cruisers, playing tennis, playing pool, playing card games, going to casinos, jeeping the back roads, travel to lots of places including in a motor home that I still have and several other things. The thing I am into most now though is playing golf. My youngest son got me into it, and I picked up my first golf club when I was 37. About the age of 50 I kind of got hooked so took some lessons and have gotten decent at it. I like it because you can play it until the day you die, and it is a great social game. Hard to have much conversation playing tennis but golf you sure can. It is not a deal breaker for me if you don’t play golf and are unwilling to learn as long as you accept that I play three times a week. If you do play golf - great or would like to learn - fantastic as I would be happy to teach you or get you lessons as you’re never too old to learn. I have had some great times playing couples golf and couples golf tournaments. You really do get to meet some fantastic people and see some great scenery. Beside those golf outfits for ladies are really cute!!
My ideal women is intelligent and accomplished at something. Doesn’t matter what so much as having accomplished it and the experience to discuss it. If I am not playing golf my best times are sitting around with a glass of wine talking about anything and everything. I would like someone who also likes doing wine tasting trips and searching out those neat little hole in the wall dive bars and restaurants that all the locals love. Some of the best trips I have taken are those that I stared out with just a vague idea of what and where to go and just kind winged it. It is amazing what you can find if you keep your eyes open to the experience. You also have to have a positive outlook on life and experiences. If you are a negative person that is a deal breaker for me.
